Expanding the marketplace for ‘superfoods’ company
CHALLENGE
Miski Organics, a family-owned Burlington, Ont. company, sells Peruvian superfoods which are combined with local Canadian-grown ingredients. The company, which does not have an in-house marketing team, was interested in investigating an addition to its superfoods line with products like a cookie mix, a pancake mix, a smoothie mix and a sacha inchi butter, all using foods from their Peruvian sources. In addition to research help from the Business & Commercialization team, they also needed expertise in both adding to their distribution and recommendations on where to focus their marketing efforts.
SOLUTION
The research team first undertook an extensive analysis of Miski Organics’ competitors in the superfoods industry and looked at those who currently sell products similar to those that Miski sells. The team also provided recommendations on branding their product line and on promotional strategies. The industry partner has plans to expand operations across Canada and beyond and is currently working on introducing new products into the marketplace.
