Join us November 5 as R&I cares for a United Way

Blotters, bingo cards and a random number generator are at the ready for November 5th. That’s when Niagara College’s Research & Innovation division hosts its Awesome Prizes Bingo event in support of United Way Niagara.

And while our NC department is hosting, the broader Niagara community is definitely being encouraged to join the fun.

This is the R&I’s first annual bingo event, although it has a long involvement with entertaining ways to raise funds for the Niagara-based charity. For five years, the research team held a trivia night, that pitted college-wide departments in a friendly competition, all vying for the coveted WTF (World Trivia Federation) belt.

Last year, R&I raised more than $2,000 toward the College’s $40,000 ‘NC Cares in a United Way’ campaign. Niagara College’s librarian team successfully defended their belt for the second time.

As in years past, Marc Nantel, Vice-President, Research, Innovation & Strategic Initiatives, will act as master of ceremonies and will bring his musical merriment to the evening’s fun.

“The Research & Innovation team is proud of our history supporting the United Way, which plays such an essential role in aiding the residents of Niagara,” said Nantel. “We have been heartened by the incredible spirit of the College community in their support to make a difference to so many lives in the region.”

One in three Niagara residents use a service or program that is funded by the United Way, thanks to the donations of many.

The R&I Awesome Prizes Bingo takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Club C Event Centre at Club Castropignano, and is modestly priced at $30 per ticket, or a table of 8 for $240. Each ticket includes 10 games of Bingo (per person); pizza and snacks, complimentary tea, coffee and goodies station; raffle tickets and other surprises.

Similar to a “purse and prize bingo” this event has some awesome prize options in each round, including an Apple TV, a barbecue, sports tickets, entertainment and wine packages, and more (yes, we will have at least one designer purse).

There will be a cash bar available with a portion of the proceeds from the beer and wine sales going to the United Way campaign. Please note, participants must be a minimum age of 18 years.

Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite at awesomeprizesbingo.eventbrite.ca.
