Applications are invited for the position of Communications Specialist in the Research & Innovation Division, located at the Welland Campus.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Research & Innovation (R&I), the successful candidate provides a full range of communications services to the Research & External Relations (RER) portfolio, with emphasis on the Innovation Centres of the Research & Innovation division, and implements communication plans to support projects, events, publications and media relations. This position is responsible for executing tactics for the promotion of applied research, development, and alumni initiatives through a variety of communication channels including print, digital, media relations and social networks.
The Communications Specialist is responsible for creating, writing and editing internal and external communication pieces (including gathering facts, planning and research). This includes submission to various divisional publications as well as proactively pitching stories to the media. The position represents the division to the media and facilitates meetings between the appropriate spokesperson and the media when required. The incumbent builds and maintains relationships with the divisional managers to support a proactive approach to (RER) communications, liaising with stakeholders in the RER portfolio to provide communications services as needed.
