The Niagara College-led Southern Ontario Network for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation (SONAMI) recently celebrated successful collaborations with businesses as part of its IPON Industry Partner Showcase.
Held at the Daniel J. Patterson campus of Niagara College, this event was a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and intellectual property strategy—all brought to life through the work of SONAMI and the continued support of Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON).
Several businesses who engaged with SONAMI in the past year presented on the successful impact of having their intellectual property assets protected.
Small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) from several sectors were able to showcase their current innovations – whether a product or process or productivity enhancement – that has been protected through the IPON-SONAMI work. From SME success stories to powerful partner presentations, the event reminded those in attendance of how vital these collaborations are to the future of Ontario’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
The showcase businesses included: Cardon Rehabilitation and Medical Equipment Ltd., Stratus Plastics International, Hamill Machine, Sasso Mill, Infinite Harvest Technologies and Stratitrope.
SONAMI has received a total investment of more than $700,000 during the three-year pilot phase of IPON’s program directed at postsecondary institutions in Ontario; the most recent round results were announced in late April.
