Research and Innovation

It has been a busy winter/early spring for Research and Innovation, both in hosting and in attending events.

For example, we interacted with many ecosystem partners and businesses that are ready to innovate at the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention in February, and we hosted the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce Business After 5 on the Welland Campus in early March.

For example, we interacted with many ecosystem partners and business ready to innovate at the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention in February, and we hosted the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce Business After 5 on the Welland Campus in early March.

The GNCC B@5, which was held at The Core student pub, was attend by more than 60 people from across the region, and was co-hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters Niagara, and the Economic Development division of the City of Welland.

The Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre and SONAMI also teamed up to sponsor a Manufacturers Pub Night, hosted at Blackburn Brewhouse in Niagara Falls. The event featured informal discussions on how NC’s innovation centres and the network support companies with reverse engineering, automation, intellectual property protection, rapid prototyping and innovation projects, as well as funding opportunities to help move ideas forward. More than 50 attendees had the chance to connect with other manufacturers in Niagara, share experiences, and explore new opportunities in a relaxed setting.
