Well Preserved Handcrafted Condiments & Jellies, an initiative of Community Living Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln, has been building community, flavour, and opportunity since 2012.

By 2018, the venture officially became part of the All Hands In Partnership, creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Their preserves, crafted with fresh local Niagara produce, can now be found in retailers across the region, as well as in custom orders for weddings, conferences, and special events, and at the storefront in Grimsby inside the Community Living building.

A brand refresh and market growth strategy

As their business matured, so did their vision and goals. Their original branding served them well in the early years, but as Well Preserved became a go-to product in Niagara, they sought support from Niagara College’s Business and Commercialization Innovation Centre (BCIC) to develop a market growth strategy and a refresh that better represented who they are today.

BCIC worked with them to create a comprehensive marketing strategy. With a focus on defining their target audience and developing a promotional plan to reach them, a revitalized brand identity and labels, and new product photography and videography was created, giving the brand a refreshed look that better reflected who Well Preserved is today.

“Getting to create a visual identity that matches the product on the inside, and seeing it brought to life and on market shelves is exciting,” said Paula Reile, Associate Director, BCIC. “This has been a really exciting project for us; we knew the product was great, we tried it all!”

“We can’t thank Niagara College enough for the incredible work they did rebranding Well Preserved. From fresh marketing strategies to engaging social media content and stunning new visuals, their creativity and expertise shone through every step,” Candace Anderson, Team Lead – Well Preserved, Employment Solutions and Virtual Services.

Thank you for all those who took part from the Niagara College team—we feel renewed, re-energized, and ready for what’s ahead!

“The entire team was professional, friendly, and wonderfully accommodating, making the process not only smooth but genuinely enjoyable.”

Candace also noted that what stood out most was how they went above and beyond to include the partners with developmental disabilities in the journey: valuing their input, making them feel heard, and ensuring they were part of every step. “That level of care and inclusivity needs to be celebrated, and it speaks volumes about the heart behind their work.

This project was made possible with support from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
