New ready-to-drink products for Miura
Challenge
Drink Miura (Fifth Wave Labs Ltd.) is a beverage company based out of the Greater Toronto Area and operated/owned by Adam Lewis. Drink Miura embraces a reverence for traditional Japanese style iced coffee with the desire to incorporate it into Canadian culture. When Miura came to the Canadian Food & Wine Institute (CFWI) Innovation Centre they offered products retailing in 100 stores, including select Longo’s and Metro outlets. They wanted to expand their offerings in line with the traditional Japanese iced coffee brand and following their ideology offering organic and free trade beverage products.
Solution
The research project developed three new ready-to-drink beverages from concept to product formulation, involving target product identification and analytical measurements, identification of potential co-packers, concept formulation and lab scale testing, shelf-life study recommendations, and regulatory recommendations. One of these new products is Oat Mylk Latte, which is now available in a 3 litre boxed format and complements Miura’s traditional Classic Black coffee, also offered in this new format.
