Material Testing and Prototype Design Project
Mechanical Engineering Design and Improvement
Maxine McLean PhD, is the creator and founder of Perfect Touch Ball Therapy, a unique, non-invasive massage modality that can be performed on the entire body, while the recipient remains fully clothed. In an effort to educate, train, and promote this therapy, Dr. McLean approached the Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre to help her create a set of therapy balls that can be commercialized together with her training program.
The research team utilized Polyjet 3D printing technology, along with material testing techniques to produce a prototype set of massage therapy balls that met the specifications and properties for the patented massage technique.
