R&I raises more than $2,000 in Fifth Annual WTF Trivia Night for United Way

Those NC librarians know the score. The high score, that is, which they successfully defended as WTF (World Trivia Federation) champs. The team reclaimed the belt they have held since the fourth annual Trivia Night, organized by Research & Innovation to raise funds for the NC United Way campaign.

A dozen teams took over the Core on the Welland Campus to compete for the coveted prize. The evening entertainment was anchored by Marc Nantel, associate vice-president, Research & Innovation, by day, and master of ceremonies extraordinaire by night. Decked out in a tux and strumming one of two guitars at varying points during the event, Nantel led the participants through four rounds of trivia themed around Niagara College schools of study.

The evening also included raffle prizes and a 50/50 draw, but in the end Niagara’s United Way campaign is the big winner, as the event’s funds will be added to the college campaign, whose goal of $40,000 is well within reach thanks to several special events, and the generosity of employees on both campuses.

Under the newly amalgamated United Way Niagara, the regional goal for 2018 is $5 million. For more information, visit their website.
