R&I welcomes Joshua Bunz to the role of Research & Development Technologist with WAMIC

Joshua Bunz, new R&D Technologist with WAMIC team.

Research & Innovation is pleased to welcome Joshua Bunz to the team as the Research & Development Technologist with the Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (WAMIC).

In his role, Josh supports all laboratory, applied research, and technical service activities related to mechanical engineering. He trains students and graduate employees, along with staff and researchers, on standard and specialized equipment and processes. He also participates in creating and updating maintenance-related standard operating procedures (SOPs).

With more than 12 years in the field, Josh has extensive experience in mechanical engineering, quality control, and managing teams to establish a lean manufacturing culture.

Joshua is a proud graduate of Niagara College’s Mechanical Engineering Technologist program and Brock University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.

In addition, Josh is a Level 1 Welding Inspector certified to CSA Welding Standard W178.2 and is Six Sigma Yellow Belt certified through the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

“I’ve had great experiences with Niagara College while studying for my Mechanical Engineering Advanced Diploma and a co-op placement as a Mechanical Research Assistant. I’m very interested in learning and working with all the advanced technological equipment that WAMIC has to offer,” said Joshua.

Everyone on the WAMIC team has extended a warm, kind welcome to Joshua, he added, with onboarding being smooth and organized.

Josh lives in Welland, which is an additional plus on the convenience front, as he can be home in no time to spend time with his wife and two young daughters.

Joshua is an avid fisherman who frequently competes in tournaments on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario for salmon and walleye. He also plays on a men’s slo-pitch and co-ed volleyball teams which keeps him active.

With all of Josh’s career experience, he’s looking forward to solving industry problems by applying his unique skill set to innovation challenges.
